The Neogen Petrifilm Rapid E. coli/Coliform Count (REC) Plate is a sample-ready, selective and differential culture medium system for enumeration of Escherichia coli and total coliforms in food, beverage and environmental samples. The plate contains proprietary nutrients, a cold-water-soluble gelling agent, 5-bromo-4-chloro-3-indolyl-D-glucuronide (BCIG) and a tetrazolium indicator to facilitate glucuronidase-based identification and colony enumeration. Validated for use at both ISO and FDA/BAM incubation temperatures, it provides confirmed E. coli and coliform results in 18–24 hours and is compatible with automated reading using the Petrifilm Plate Reader Advanced.
