The Neogen Petrifilm Lactic Acid Bacteria Count Plate is a self-contained, sample-ready culture-medium system for quantitative enumeration of lactic acid bacteria in food and environmental samples. It contains nutrients, selective agents, a cold-water-soluble gelling agent and a tetrazolium indicator to facilitate colony enumeration, and incorporates oxygen-scavenging technology and oxygen-barrier films to create an anaerobic environment without gas packs or CO2 incubators. Primary use cases include recovery and enumeration of homofermentative and heterofermentative lactic acid bacteria for food quality and shelf-life monitoring.
